Rachel Martin Design was hired by Sustain Charlotte, a local non-profit, to design "Charlotte 2030: A Sustainable Vision For Our Future". The brochure was the product of more than 100 sustainability experts and stakeholders from broad disciplines using a collaborative and consensus-based process, drawn from government, nonprofits, private sectors and academia. It was unveiled at a public launch event on November 1, 2010 in the center of Charlotte with Mayor Anthony Foxx, Mecklenburg County Commissioner Jennifer Roberts amongst other city officials and community leaders. The brochure was designed using a clean approach and colorful key to depict its ten aspects of urban sustainability: Air, Buildings and Homes, Economy, Energy, Food, Parks and Green Space, Waste, Social Equity, Transportation and Water. In addition to positive design reviews, the brochure has also won a PICA (Printing Industries of the Carolinas) Award of Excellence.
