Rachel Martin is a design director and designer with over 17 years of professional design experience. As an avid do-gooder and advocate for sustainability, Rachel collaborates with socially conscious leaders on a national level in design, marketing, packaging, product innovation, architecture and more. She believes designers have the power to lead the way in communicating the importance of positive social and environmentally responsible messages and implements these values into her projects and everyday life.
Prior to relocating to Charlotte, Rachel was a senior designer and project manager in NYC for Louis Dreyfus, an international group of diversified businesses, that is one of the largest privately held companies in the world. She had the honor of working with Tom Wood and collaborated with such design talents as Richard Saul Wurman, Massimo Vignelli and Tibor Kalman. Rachel began her career in advertising at BBDO Worldwide where she designed campaigns for Bayer, Campbell’s, FedEx, PepsiCo and Visa. Her work has been recognized in publications and several awards from Applied Arts, Creativity, GOOD, Graphic Design USA, Graphis, HOW and PRINT Magazine.
Rachel is the former AIGA National Director of The Living Principles for Design, serves on the advisory boards for AIGA, Green Drinks, Piedmont Culinary Guild and Queen City Forward, is an adopter of the Designers Accord and a curator for Design Envy. She is also a member of Design Can Change, DESIGN 21: Social Design Network, Ladies of Letterpress, Re-nourish, U.S. Green Building Council and helped launch AIGA’s sustainability and design for good initiatives across the nation.
